Code of Conduct

For Pupils

At SSLC we provide a professional teaching environment and as such expect a certain level of standards and behaviour from all our pupils. Certain behaviour can be very distracting for our other pupils, and it is not in our interest, or the pupil's, to let this continue. Therefore, if any pupil does not adhere to our standards (below) then we do reserve the right to exclude them from the class immediately.

Behaviour we would expect

  • To attend all or as many classes for each term
  • Inform us as soon as possible if you are unable to attend a class for any reason
  • Remain on the premises until the end of each class, if you need to leave for any reason then you must let the tutor or senior staff member know
  • If feeling ill during any class or while on the premises you must let the tutor or senior staff member know, we will then contact a parent / guardian for you
  • Set yourself high standards of behaviour, both inside and out the class
  • Take responsibility for your behaviour, attitude and appearance at all times
  • Show courtesy and consideration for all other pupils, teaching and ancillary staff, and visitors at all times
  • Observe and adhere to all safety instructions given to you at all time
  • Arrive in each class on time, with the correct materials and resources and with all necessary preparatory work and homework completed on time to the best of your ability
  • Follow instructions given by all tutors, ancillary staff at all times
  • Take responsibility for your own possessions and belongings, ensuring that where possible, all are clearly marked with your name
  • Report any accident or breakage immediately to a member of staff
  • Take responsibility for valuable possessions brought into the class

Behaviour we not would expect

  • The use offensive language or act in an offensive or violent manner towards any other person
  • Bring into class any item or substance which will contravene our regulations such as alcohol, illegal drugs or any substance which has an intoxicating or hallucinatory effect (smoking is strictly forbidden in all circumstances, both inside and around the premises)
  • Borrow, use or take away any item belonging to another person without clear permission
  • Intentionally damage our property or that belonging to another person;
  • Eat or drink in class without permission, (pupils are permitted to drink still water in class without permission)
  • Have mobile phones, which have been brought onto the premises, switched on in class
  • Record or send an image or sound without the permission of a member of staff and the people being recorded
  • Bring into class knives, other weapons or any dangerous item.
